PICKY EATERS… no veggies please.

PICKY EATERS… no veggies please.

Planning that next meal can be a true challenge if you have finicky eaters to please. If only there was a way to get veggies in meals and not tell anyone.

Well! Guess what? There is!

Here are 5 tips to get those veggies into a meal and no one will be the wiser.

MAKE A SMOOTHIE
When we think of a smoothie we think fruit. Vegetables can be added to a smoothie and the right ones will not compromise the taste. Fresh dark leafy greens, such as kale and spinach can be added to smoothies in combination of mango, ginger, peaches or some other flavors that are family favorites.

VEGGIE CASSEROLE
When we think casserole, we think of the word “BORING”. Adding vegetables to a casserole adds vibrant colors and flavor to the dish. Chop up some broccoli, red peppers, carrots,or mushrooms and combine with rice or potatoes. These vegetables have vitamin c, vitamin k, antioxidants and trace minerals. A well rounded meal to get that added health boost.

TRY A LETTUCE WRAP
A lettuce wrap can be added to a meal to replace the flour based products. This will reduce the carbohydrate intake and remove refined breads and tortillas. Make nourishing tacos and sandwiches with the lettuce wrap and bring fun to the meal.

CAULIFLOWER PIZZA WRAP
Cauliflower can be created into many unique and fun recipes. Replace the flour pizza crust with a cauliflower crust. It is super easy and the kids will enjoy adding their own toppings. To make this nourishing crust you will need; cauliflower, eggs, almond flour and seasonings. The family will get a fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and low calories.

SAUCES, STEWS & SOUPS
Veggies of your choice can be added to marinara, spaghetti sauces, cream sauces and a variety of soups and stews. The best vegetables to use would be onions, carrots, bell pepper, or spinach. Chop up or puree these vegetables and add to a sauce while cooking. This will bring a nourishing advantage to your meal and nobody’s the wiser.

What? There’s veggies in there! (shh. we won’t tell)

This may be a trial and error to sneak in the veggies to meals due to different taste. But, not only will the family get additional vitamins and minerals to their meals, the added antioxidants and fiber will reduce the chance of future health issues. In the end, you can create a nourishing meal to bring that boost of health to the family.
