It’s 5:30 am and I hear my alarm ringing on my phone, I glance at the screen and it reads: “Good morning, beautiful! It’s time to workout!” The message is the extra push I need to hop out of bed and lace up my running shoes. At 8:00 am, another alarm sounds reminding me that “I am enough. I love and accept myself!” I set these little reminders throughout the day to keep my mind focused on positivity and gratitude. Too often, our world can be filled with negativity and it is my small way to remind myself to be mindful and conscious.
Pay attention. There are people who are in the habit of complaining instead of communicating. You ask them simply, “how are you?” and they launch into a series of complaints. Then, the next person you run into immediately vents about the weather. Another co-worker groans about the boss. It is easy to fall into the trap of mirroring their response and find yourself falling into the habit of complaining, too.
I have been setting the alarm at different times during the day and labeling each of those alarms with positive encouragements. I am shedding old thought patterns and using this tool to keep me mindful. Transforming your mind requires daily training and your alarm clock can be you’re daily coach!
